Motorola saw a 35% reduction in absolute CO2 emissions since 2005, but also reported an increase in normalized emissions in 2009. The company released the details of its revised climate strategy in its 2009 corporate responsibility report, which included: a pledge to cut GHG emissions from operations by 15 percent (normalized to sales) by the end of 2010 over 2005 levels; and plans to increase the share of its renewable energy purchasing from 20 to 30 percent of total usage by 2020. The report also reviews Motorola’s waste-reduction efforts and eco-innovation around greener phones and enterprise mobility products.

Last week, however, US biofuel science maker Codexis completed its $78 million IPO — which although short of its target nonetheless fueled speculation that other US clean tech IPOs would soon follow.
